Whether standing on a windswept beach in Port Renfrew, chasing waterfalls in the rainforest, or hiking up to a mountain ridge for sunrise, this guide will help you find the best spots and times to shoot them. Seasons change everything here—autumn brings yellows and earth tones, spring is wildflower season, and winter storms make for dramatic coastal shots. I recently visited Vancouver Island and found this guide as an invaluable resource. Spending a majority of my time in the Port Renfrew area, Adam's recommendations simplified the process of venturing to unique, wild, and awe-inspiring locations. With an extra day to spend shooting before departing Vancouver Island, this guide helped me explore and photograph locations on the East Coast of the Island as well. Highly recommend and endorse this resource!

On my first visit to Vancouver island, Adam Gibbs’ guide was fantastic. It saved so much time exploring and finding great photogenic locations. Written by a nature photographer for photographers was invaluable. Tips and what to expect were very accurate and inspiring. I photographed for five days without any disappointing locations. All were as advertised. Thank you Adam for sharing your expertise and experience. I eill use the guide again on a future visit. DL from michigan 3/2025

Having lived in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. for the past 29 years, I have had several opportunities to visit Vancouver Island. While I have been to some of the spots that Adam points out in this guidebook, there are many that I have not seen before. Armed with the excellent information about these locations, along with the helpful maps, I am more than ready to travel to the island again in the near future. Adam's guidebook will be so helpful to me, as it would be for anyone interested in visiting this beautiful part of the world.

I visited Vancouver Island before and used Adam's videos to discover various locations. With this guide, finding the best spots will be much easier, making it essential for any photographer planning a trip to the island. I'm doing another trip this spring, and my itinerary is centered around this guide.

I’ve been a professional photographer since 1991, and over the years, my work has been featured in homes, galleries, and publications worldwide. Photography has always been more than just a career for me—it’s a lifelong adventure that has taken me to some of the most incredible landscapes on the planet.

For two decades, my images were a staple in Gardens West, Gardens East, and Gardens Central, three gardening magazines published by Cornwall Publishing. Between 1995 and 2015, I had thousands of images published and over 200 covers across the titles. My work has also appeared in renowned publications like the BBC’s “Planet Earth”, Outdoor Photographer, Nature’s Best, and Fine Gardening.

While I’ve always loved seeing my images in print, I now focus most of my attention on sharing my knowledge about photography through my YouTube channel, Adam Gibbs Photography. There, I take viewers along on my adventures and offer insights into how I capture the light, mood, and beauty of the outdoors.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, including several awards from Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Epson Pano Awards. However, the highlight came in 2018 when I was honoured to be named the International Landscape Photographer of the Year.

Photography has given me a lifetime of adventure, and I’m always excited to see where the next light, scene, and journey will take me.
