The Ortaköy Mosque, also known as the Grand Mecidiye Mosque, is a nineteenth-century Ottoman imperial mosque located on the Bosphorus shoreline in Istanbul. Commissioned by the Sultan Abdülmecid I and designed by the Armenian Father and son team of Garabet Balyan and Nikoğos Balyan; this impressive structure is one of the most iconic mosques of Turkey. Characterized by its eclectic style which incorporates Baroque and early revivalist elements, the mosque stands out with its ornate stone-carved decorations, large dome covered prayer hall, two slim minarets, and wide windows that make up for its small interior size. The variety of frescoes adorning its interior, along with the calligraphy work personally done by Sultan Abdülmecid I using marble and porphyry, makes this mosque a unique and captivating setting.

This is the perfect postcard like photo spot. It's everywhere on Instagram for a reason. Sunsets and evenings are the best!
