If you find yourself in the Galle area of Sri Lanka, you HAVE to check out Galle Fort. It's a must-visit spot with its rich history and cool vibes. It’s definitely worth staying for a night or two. You can wander through the narrow streets and admire the colonial buildings that'll transport you back in time - a lot of which are really cute shops and amazing restaurants. And oh, the view from the fort walls! It's insane! You can see the endless stretch of the Indian Ocean. And of course, there are lots of amazing photo spots - like the famous lighthouse!

Some things to do:

  • Simply walk around! There are lots of handicraft shops in old dutch buildings.

  • Visit the Galle Fort Lighthouse

  • Around sunset, watch people jump off the fort walls into the water

  • Walk around and enjoy sunset on the fort's walls

  • Day trip to the south coast and surrounding beaches

And finally, in terms of getting around in Galle Fort, it's a very small town and is completely walkable. But you have the option of taking Tuktuks.
