Malta is a Mediterranean archipelago just south of Sicily and east of Tunisia. Its blend of European and African influences is evident throughout, along with strong British influence, the last foreign ruler until 1974, when Malta became a republic.

Malta has a rich Christian heritage (St. Paul is said to have been shipwrecked here) and remarkable bravery during World War II, when King George VI awarded the George Cross to the entire country. Expect breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, stunning ancient architecture, delicious food, fascinating history, and extremely friendly and kind people.

The city, like the whole island, was strongly marked by the British presence until 1964. This explains why English is the official language alongside Maltese. You will find red telephone booths, typically British. People speak English very well here, as English schools were established when the country was transitioning from Italian to English. This is an advantage for those who have difficulty with languages!

The village of Marsaxlokk is famous for its typical Maltese boats, the Luzzu, painted red, yellow and blue, with the eyes of Osiris painted on the prow to ward off demons and protect fishermen. The small harbor is incredibly photogenic, with the yellow ochre houses and the blue sea creating a fairytale setting.

One detail to keep in mind is that there are many cats roaming freely around the village. If you are allergic, be prepared!

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Malta is an ideal destination for those seeking good weather. The island has few sandy beaches, but those that are there are wonderful.

Malta ha una ricca eredità cristiana (si dice che San Paolo sia naufragato qui) e un notevole coraggio durante la seconda guerra mondiale, quando il re Giorgio VI assegnò la George Cross all'intero paese. Il villaggio di Marsaxlokk è famoso per le sue tipiche imbarcazioni maltesi, i Luzzu, dipinte di rosso, giallo e blu, con gli occhi di Osiride dipinti sulla prua per scongiurare i demoni e proteggere i pescatori. Il porticciolo è incredibilmente fotogenico, con le case giallo ocra e l'azzurro del mare che creano uno scenario da favola.
