Lago Ritom is an absolutely stunning natural lake in the beautiful Piora valley of Switzerland. This unique reservoir is used by the Swiss Federal Railways to generate hydro-electric power for the famous Gotthard line.

This is the place to relax, rest and get away from the every day hustle and bustle.

There is a new nature tail created in 2009 on the right side of the lake which is easy and everyman enjoy it.

HIKE DETAILS

Start: at Piotta Centrale take the funicular train up to Piora. From the station start your hike towards the lake. You can hike around the lake stopping by to the Capanna Cadagno hut.

The distance will be 12 km with about 388 meters of elevation gains. It can take about 4 hours to hike around the lake.

Beautiful area, lush forest I almost felt like in Hawaii :)

TIP: if you are up for some challenge I recommend going up to Lago di Tom as well which is a lek a bit above Ritom. The views are absolutely amazing.
