Rooted in the wild mountain basin located the three Murg lakes in kanton St Gallen.

Lakes, streams, waterfalls, hut .. you can have it all on this hike. The area is located in a nature reserve.

HIKE DETAILS:

The hike is a loop trail. Very well signed but some parts steep so wear good hiking boots and bring plenty of water.

From Murg am Walensee you can reach the starting point of the hike the parking Bachlaui (in Merlen) by car or by the Murgsee bus ( it operates more like an alpine taxi, therefore you need to call them and book a ride).There is no public transportation going up there.

You start with a steep climb towards Gsponbach and then to Alp Inter Mürtschen. Eventually you will arrive to the 3 lakes which are incredible beautiful. You can find a mountain hut near the lakes where you can stop for a break or a delicious lunch. Once you pass the lakes the hike will leave valley.

The entire trail is 15 km long with 950 meters of elevation gain. It can take 5-6 hours to complete it.
