Marmottes Spielboden aka Marmot trail is a super cool place in Saas-Fee, Switzerland where you can hang out with some adorable marmots. It's like a little playground for these furry creatures! You can feed them nuts and carrots, and they'll come right up to you without a care in the world. The park is easy to get to, just take the gondola up to Spielboden and you're there. It's a great activity for families, especially if you have little ones who love animals. So if you're in Saas-Fee, don't miss out on this fun and unique experience with the marmots at Spielboden.
You can purchase a bag of nuts and carrots either at the Saas Fee tourist office or at the restaurant at Spielboden. It cost 6 chf.
Some rules to follow while there:
Keep your voice down. Don't chase marmots. Pet marmots only cautiously, they can bite. do not throw garbage around their area. Do not throw anything into the caves of the marmots. Don't use flash when taking pictures.
The Muriel trail is 0,5 km long, and can take 45 minutes or 4,5 hours depends how long you want to hang out with the marmots haha. I personally was there from morning til closing :D
Quick tip: the marmots are so full by the afternoon so I recommend going at opening time while they still hungry :)
On the hiking trail there are 7 panels with interesting facts about the life of the marmots.
If you are lucky you can also spot ibexes grazing in the distance. I did spot one while I hiked up.
