Fälensee, also known as Fählensee, is a charming lake nestled in the Alpstein range of Switzerland's Appenzell kanton. With its crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop, it's a hidden gem for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. At an elevation of 1,446 meters, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're looking to hike, picnic, or simply relax by the water, Fälensee is a picturesque spot that everyone should see it once at least.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Start at Brülisau. From here follow the sign towards Fälensee. The hike can take 1 3/4 hours - 2 hours.
On the way you pass another lake called Sämtisersee which is bigger than Fälensee but not as spectacular. Once you arrive enjoy the view!
There is a mountain inn by the lake called Bollenwie that is very famous about their rösti, a Swiss potato dish. From Fälensee you can hike up to Saxer Lücke or take the same way back to Brülisau.
