Confitería Caren, a Recoleta bakery, has been serving up their legendary sándwich de miga since 1969.

This iconic sandwich, made with crustless bread and different fillings, is a go to snack in Argentina. No party or toast is complete with a platter of these tea sandwiches. Not all miga sandwiches are created equal but Caren's are spectacular. I will walk blocks out of my way to bring some home.

My go to miga choice is always boiled egg and cheese and they don't disappoint but they have 25 flavors to choose from. Another unexpected favorite of mine is their eggplant (try it before you judge!).
