This is one of my favorite walks when the weather has been a bit rough. During rainy or windy days, many levadas can become less safe due to rockfalls or landslides. Um Caminho Para Todos, meaning "A Path for Everyone," is the perfect alternative.
This 2 km long route (about 45 minutes) is ideal for everyone, from families with small children to people with physical or visual impairments. The path is designed with accessibility in mind, offering a wide, flat trail with sturdy handrails on both sides. You’ll walk alongside a beautiful stretch of the Levada do Caldeirão Verde, surrounded by the lush greenery of Madeira’s nature.
What makes this trail extra special is how it allows you to experience the natural beauty of the Laurissilva forest in a simple and safe way, without venturing deep into the mountains. It’s an excellent introduction to levada walks without the risk of tunnels or narrow sections.
The walk ends at the cozy Queimadas café, where you can reward yourself with delicious coffee and cake. Take your time to relax and soak in the calm surroundings.
