TRAIN

Traveling by train in Uzbekistan is cheaper than flying. With overnight trains, you also save the cost of an overnight stay.

TRAIN TYPES:

• Afrosiyob high-speed railway. We were happily surprised by the cleanliness and comfort. Surprise: you have coffee, tea and snacks available during the journey.

• Sharq

• Overnight trains: slower but necessary for traveling long distances. You only have tea bags available.

You can book a private berth for 2 people(Lux / CB), a private berth for 4 people(Kupe ) or a shared berth(Platzkartny ).

We traveled in Kupe and it was fun because it allowed us to interact with the local people! The overnight train offers:

• Clean sheets and pillows (which you will have to return at the end of the ride).

• USB sockets available only in 1st class; bring a power bank if traveling in 2nd or 3rd class.

• Air conditioning only in 1st class.

• Free hot water available in a large kettle near the restrooms; bring your own tea bags.

• Street vendors of drinks and snacks available.

  It is important to reserve seats early, before they sell out. Reservations open a few weeks before the trip. To search for connections and make reservations, you need to register at eticket.railway.uz. There you can choose your seats, pay online and download your tickets with the QR Code. Arrive at the station a little early, as your ticket, passport and luggage are checked, just like at an airport.

TAXI

For travel around the city, cabs are a good option (there is also a metro in Tashkent). You will find official metered cabs, which you can hail from the hotel and are convenient. Some cabs do not have meters, in which case it is best to agree on the price before you get in. In general, you will have no difficulty finding a cab, but they may be a bit pushy. Just say no firmly.

A practical alternative is the Yandex Go - cab and delivery app, similar to Uber but available only in Uzbekistan. The fares are very affordable, for example for 8 km the average fare is about 1 € (whether you are 3 or one person). We also used Yandex for trips over 300 km (about 36 € for 2 people).

TASHKENT METRO

The Tashkent Metro operates daily from 5:00 am to midnight, with peak hours between 7:30-9:30 am and 5:00-7:30 pm. You can travel to all stations with one ticket, which costs about €0.8/$0.11.

The Tashkent Metro is safe due to strict security measures. There are guards at the entrance who check luggage and at least 2 guards at each station who monitor the platforms. Security cameras are installed at every corner.

TRENO

Viaggiare in treno in Uzbekistan è più economico che volare. Con i treni notturni, inoltre, si risparmia il costo di un pernottamento.

TIPI DI TRENI:

• Afrosiyob ferrovia ad alta velocità. Siamo rimasti felicemente sorpresi dalla pulizia e dal comfort. Sorpresa: hai a disposizione caffè, tè e snack durante il viaggio.

• Sharq

• Treni notturni: più lento ma necessario per viaggiare lunghe distanze. Hai a disposizione solo le bustine del tè.

Puoi prenotare una cuccetta privata per 2 persone (Lux / CB), una cuccetta privata per 4 persone (Kupe ) o una cuccetta condivisa (Platzkartny ).

Abbiamo viaggiato in Kupe ed è stato divertente perché ci ha permesso di interagire con la gente locale! Ci siamo sentiti come a casa. Gli uzbeki sono un popolo molto cordiale e accogliente. Abbiamo comunicato in inglese grazie anche a google traduttore. Tuttavia per un paio d’ore la connessione è mancata. Abbiamo dormito pochissimo, ma comunque fa nulla: rimane l’esperienza del secolo!

Il treno notturno offre:

• Lenzuola e cuscini puliti (che a fine corsa dovrai restituire).

• Prese USB disponibili solo in 1a classe; porta un power bank se viaggi in 2a o 3a classe.

• Solo aria condizionata in 1a classe.

• Acqua calda gratuita disponibile in un grande bollitore vicino ai servizi igienici; porta le tue bustine di tè.

• Venditori ambulanti di bevande e snack disponibili.

NB: E' importante prenotare i posti a sedere in anticipo, prima che si esauriscano. Le prenotazioni aprono qualche settimana prima del viaggio. Per cercare i collegamenti e prenotare, è necessario registrarsi sul sito eticket.railway.uz. Qui potrete scegliere i vostri posti, pagare online e scaricare i biglietti con il QR Code. Arrivate in stazione con un po' di anticipo, poiché vengono controllati biglietto, passaporto e bagagli, come in un aeroporto.

TAXI

Per gli spostamenti in città i taxi sono una buona opzione (a Tashkent c'è anche la metro). Troverete taxi ufficiali con tassametro, che potete chiamare dall'hotel e che sono convenienti. Alcuni taxi non hanno il tassametro, in questo caso è meglio concordare il prezzo prima di salire. In generale, non avrete difficoltà a trovare un taxi, ma potrebbero essere un po' insistente. Basta dire no con decisione.

Un'alternativa pratica è l'app Yandex Go — taxi and delivery, simile a Uber ma disponibile solo in Uzbekistan. Le tariffe sono molto convenienti, ad esempio per 8 km la tariffa media è di circa 1 Euro (che siate in 3 o una persona). Abbiamo utilizzato Yandex anche per spostamenti oltre i 300 km (circa 36 Euro in 2 persone).

METRO TASHKENT

La metropolitana di Tashkent è operativa tutti i giorni dalle 5:00 a mezzanotte, con ore di punta tra le 7:30-9:30 e 17:00-19:30. Puoi viaggiare per tutte le stazioni con un solo biglietto, che costa circa 0,8 €/0,11 $.

La metropolitana di Tashkent è sicura grazie alle rigide misure di sicurezza. Ci sono guardie all'ingresso che controllano i bagagli e almeno 2 guardie in ogni stazione che monitorano i binari. Le telecamere di sicurezza sono installate in ogni angolo.
