Let us leave the chaos of Mexico City to visit another capital, but this time that of a thousand-year-old empire: I am talking about Teotihuacan, or the city of the gods.

Its origins are not entirely clear, but its construction is believed to date back to 300 B.C., as do the causes of its demise. Hypotheses include perhaps a conflict, fire or epidemic.

Imagine a mixture of languages and peoples as the Maya, an empire that included present-day Guatemala, Yucatan and part of Mexico who lived in the largest cultural and manufacturing center in the world, compared almost to the Roman empire. Amazing, isn't it? In later centuries came the Aztecs who gave the place its name: Teotihuacan.

Its Pyramids of the Sun and Moon and the Temple of the Plumed Serpent "Quetzalcoatl" , will make you breathe a magical area. To think that the ruins of Teotihuacan are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was an intense thrill to walk in the Street of the Dead "Calzada de Los Muertos" the main street around which all the main attractions are located.

🇮🇹 Lasciamo il caos di Città del Messico per visitare un'altra capitale, ma questa volta quella di un impero millenario: sto parlando di Teotihuacan, ovvero la città degli dei.

Le origini non sono del tutto chiare, ma si crede che la sua costruzione risalga al 300 a.C., cosi come le cause della sua fine. Tra le ipotesi, forse un conflitto, un incendio o un'epidemia.

Immagina un miscuglio di lingue e popoli come i Maya, un impero che comprendeva l'attuale Guatemala, lo Yucatan e parte del Messico che vivevano nel più grande centro culturale e manifatturiero del mondo, paragonato quasi all'impero romano. Incredibile, vero? Nei secoli successivi arrivarono gli Atzechi che diedero il nome del luogo: Teotihuacan.

Dulcis in fundo, con le sue piramidi del Sole e della Luna e il Tempio del Serpente Piumato "Quetzalcoatl" , ti farà respirare un'area magica. A pensare che le rovine di Teotihuacan sono Patrimonio dell’Umanità dell’ Unesco. E' stata un'emozione intensa passeggiare nella Via dei Morti "Calzada de Los Muertos" la strada principale attorno alla quale si trovano tutte le principali attrazioni.
