The simplest and truest taste of the Samarkand that has been demolished to make way for green areas and traffic arteries around historic monuments. The old Jewish quarter, now multi-ethnic and full of life, shows brick houses and open sewers. The neighborhood is protected by high walls with few entrance doors, straits to protect repainted tiles, and reconstructed mosques. Children play in the streets, everything flows in absolute calm, without the rustle and bustle of tourists.

Finding the entrance is not easy: a small white door on the main street between Registan and Bibi Khanym Mosque. Along the main street, you come across a mosque that looks small but is rich in history.

🇮🇹 L’assaggio più semplice e vero di quella Samarcanda che è stata demolita per far spazio alle aree verdi e alle arterie del traffico intorno ai monumenti storici. Il vecchio quartiere ebraico, oggi multietnico e pieno di vita, mostra case in muratura e fogne a cielo aperto. Il quartiere è protetto da altissimi muri con poche porte d’ingresso, sforse per proteggere le maioliche ridipinte e moschee ricostruite. I bambini giocano per strada, tutto scorre nella calma più assoluta, senza il fruscio e il via va dei turisti.

Trovare l’ingresso non è semplice: una porticina bianca sulla via principale tra il Registan e la Moschea di Bibi Khanym. Lungo la via principale, s’incontra una moschea che sembra piccola ma ricca di storia.
