The London Wall is a historic defensive wall built by the Romans around the city of Londinium in AD 200. Over time, it fell into disrepair after Roman rule ended in Britain. However, it was restored during the Anglo-Saxon period and continued to be enhanced throughout the medieval era. The wall played a significant role in shaping the boundaries and development of the City of London until the Middle Ages when parts of it were demolished to accommodate the city's growth. Today, efforts to preserve remaining sections of the wall as scheduled monuments highlight its lasting impact on the character of the city.
