Message from Elisa in Iceland

Before moving to Iceland I had never heard of leadersheep. These sheep are different from “normal” Icelandic sheep.

They literally lead the others. They lack the herd mentality other sheep have and because of that are very stubborn and independent. And they even say these sheep can predict the weather and lead their flock to safer areas if necessary.

They even look a little different from other Icelandic sheep. Their legs are longer (which makes them faster too) and they often have many different colored wool (not just white).

Leader sheep have been exported to other countries too, but they are originally Icelandic.

I think these sheep are super fascinating and can highly recommend learning more about them. So if you are in the area, definitely stop at this museum.

Daniel, the museum owner can tell you many fascinating stories!
