Message from Elisa in Iceland

In the summer of 2020, when the whole world was in lockdown, I traveled to the south and stumbled upon this tiny village. I had never heard of it before, but was immediately intrigued when I got there. And ended up staying for a month. I worked in the greenhouse and helped in the ceramics workshop some days as well.

So what is this town? Sólheimar is a tiny town on the Golden Circle. But for some reason, not many people know about it. There's about a 100 people that live in this town. Half of them are "disabled" and have of them are "abled". They live and work together here in the greenhouses, the art workshops, the restaurant and the little shops. The town is renowned for its ecological, artistic, and international community.

When you enter the town you'll first see Sesseljuhús on your right. It is the visitor center and will provide you some info about the town and other projects they are invested in. Sólheimar also has a little shop where you can buy products made in the town (both food and art). There's a coffeeshop where you can get food and cakes. In the summer there are several concerts in the church. And you ca also go for a walk around the town.
