This canyon is one of the largest in Iceland. Clocking in at 8 kilometers long and 200 meters from the bottom to its highest edge, it is one of the largest gorges in Iceland.

A marked hiking trail lines the gorge, leading all the way down to Magnahellir. For those who don't feel like trekking, Kárahnjúkar dam offers some glimpse to this wonder - you just need a regular car to get here. To get to the gorge itself without hiking, you will need a 4x4 car.
