Call me crazy for putting a gas station on this map, but if you are driving from Reykjavík to Akureyri or vice versa (which I have to do sometimes because I live in Akureyri), this is the stop. This is the place you'll get your hamburger / hot dog. Every Icelander will stop here. Even if it is just to use the bathroom. So do like the locals do and enjoy this gas station. Fill up the car, stretch your legs. Go get yourself an ice cream. This is the place.

Especially if you are going towards the Westfjords, you want to stop here to enjoy the last bit of civilization before you go to the middle of nowhere ;)
