Located in an off-the-beaten-path valley near the untouched wilds of Iceland's southern Westfjords, lies Listasafn Samúel Jónssonar. This museum is a true Icelandic oddity and a must-stop for any adventurous traveler.
The collection of art came from Samúel Jónsson, a retired farmer who spent his lifetime creating all sorts of sculptures and paintings despite having no formal artistic training. After his death, the sculptures and buildings associated with the museum started to deteriorate until they were rescued by a team of volunteers who worked to restore them to their full glory.
