A former capital of Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna is probably the most beautiful town on the island, and the one where you would find the most "old European feel", as the old town is quite large. 

The city is ideal where you base yourself from where to go explore the Northern part of the island as it is in good proximity to the Capital, Puerto de la Cruz, Anaga, and Teide National Parks. In the evening, it is busy with life, frequent festivals, events, and processions.
