Bond Street is a street in the West End of London, going from Piccadilly in the south to Oxford Street in the north. Since the 18th century, Bond Street has housed many prestigious fashion retailers, and is home to famous auction houses, department stores, and jewellers. It is well-known as one of the most expensive and sought after strips of real estate in Europe. The southern end of the street is Old Bond Street, while the longer northern section is known as New Bond Street. This area is pedestrianised between Grafton Street and Clifford Street to prevent through-traffic and improve its reputation as a fashionable place for retail. Bond Street has also been featured in works of literature, including Jane Austen's novel, Sense and Sensibility, and is mentioned in Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Additionally, Bond Street is a square on the British Monopoly board and is the most expensive of the green-coloured set, along with Regent and Oxford Streets. There is something for everyone on Bond Street, making it a vibrant and popular destination.
