If you’re heading up to the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula, the Muriwai Walk is a must. You can start from the Port Jackson campground or from the trailhead carpark, both options offering stunning views along the way.
The drive to the northern tip is a bit of a mission, windy gravel roads, so just take your time. If you're staying at the campground, you can make the walk a loop, which is my recommendation since the car park at the trailhead is small. If you're not staying, just park at the trailhead and do the walk as an out-and-back.
It’s a pretty chill hike, perfect for families or anyone wanting a low-key adventure. You can keep it easy with a 4km out-and-back or extend it to 9km if you follow the road around. Or, if you're up for some sand between your toes along the beach and campsite it's 7km there and back.
You’ll get some incredible coastal views along the way definitely bring your camera, because the scenery is too good to miss.
