Mattiscombe Sands, also known as Great Mattiscombe Beach, is a hidden gem tucked away in South Devon. It's the perfect spot for those seeking a peaceful and sandy escape. This is a beach you have to walk to, at least 15 minutes from Start Point car park down an uneven path, but the stunning views and serene atmosphere make it well worth the effort.

This secluded beach offers a mix of sand and rocks, with a small waterfall and stream adding to its natural charm. If you have a paddle board that you feel comfortable and strong enough to hike with, this is a perfect spot and you should definitely keep your eye out for grey seals and basking shark fins during your visit! Just be sure to check the surf forecast as there can be a little bit of swell on this beach.
