Mensaje de Kieran - Exploring Scotland

Botanic Gardens railway station was a cool spot in Glasgow's West End that opened in 1896 and had platforms underground beneath the Botanic Gardens. Designed by James Miller, the station building was fancy with clock towers and domes. After closing to passengers in 1939, it became a hangout with shops and a café called 'The Silver Slipper'. Sadly, a fire wrecked the place in 1970, leading to its eventual demolition. Today, the site remains abandoned and overgrown, but you can still see the old platforms underground. Plans for redevelopment have come and gone, but nothing has stuck so far.
