Tipping is not expected in Tanzania, although it is very much appreciated! It's very important to remember that tipping should reflect the quality of the experience or service that you have had.

It's also important to remember that Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world, so you can make a huge difference to your guides by tipping them if you feel they have provided a great service!

Remember to tip according to the value of your currency. Adjust the tip based on the local cost of living and the value of your currency in that country.

Some guides will actually have two jobs throughout the year (despite the fact they have paid for the training to become a qualified safari guide). The safari season can be seasonal and has peaks and troughs throughout the year.

As a general rule, we would advise tipping your safari guide between US$10 - US$20 per day, per person.

All lodges and hotels will generally have a tipping box that you can choose to leave a tip in, if you so wish!
