We are yet to climb Yr Wydffa (Snowdon) as a family, but this year is our year so stay tuned for the results. However I do have some top tips if you do fancy taking it on;

First up, please be aware that Yr Wyddfa is a mountain - despite it's popularity it should not be attempted without the proper equipment, supplies, research and ability (please make sure your kids have a good few days of hill walking under their belt before attempting this hike). I have been humbled more than once by this mountain especially when it comes to weather - the weather at the top can be completely different to the conditions/temperature at the bottom.

The pyg track up/miners track down is the route we are planning to take - because it's the most interesting without being too challenging for kids. There is some light scrambling, which if your kids are anything like mine will be the best part of the walk for them. You get great views from this side of the mountain and paddling in the lake at the bottom of the miners track is always a treat for the end of the day. Both of these routes start at the same place - you can prebook a parking spot at pen-y-pass car park, or choose another car park nearby and jump on the sherpa bus to shuttle you to and from the start of the route.

The other obvious option for a family hike is the Llanberis path, as this is considered the "easiest" route however, as someone who walks a lot with children I think it's a pretty boring route and you may well struggle to keep them engaged/moving.

If you are not comfortable with the pyg track then it might be worth considering the "Snowdon Ranger Path" up and "llanberis Path" down (again making use of the sherpa bus) these paths are comparable in difficulty but the ranger path is a bit more interesting.
