Tucked away near Cumberland, British Columbia, the China Bowls—also known as the Perseverance Potholes—are a fascinating natural feature along Perseverance Creek. The area is known for its smooth, water-worn rock formations and mini waterfalls, sculpted over time by the rushing creek. These unique rock pools make for a great spot to relax, but for those with a creative eye, they also offer endless opportunities for abstract photography.

Patterns in the rock, swirling water, and how light interacts with the wet stone create incredible textures and compositions. The contrast between the flowing creek and the rounded, sculpted edges of the bowls makes for compelling images.

The 3.9 km out-and-back trail to the China Bowls is an easy hike, mainly following a gravel logging road. It takes about an hour to complete and is popular with hikers, runners, and walkers year-round. While you're likely to see other visitors, there are plenty of spots to explore along the creek, where you can find quiet corners to sit, photograph, or take in the scenery.
