Elgen is a great place for hikers to visit. Located on the Elgsneshalvoya peninsula of Hinnoya, Norway's largest mainland-connected island, Elgen offers scenic views while challenging hikers on its ascent. The route takes hikers on a forest road before turning up Elgen's north ridge. Challenging at points where hands are needed for support, this class 2 hike is rewarding with excellent views of the Grytya islands. After summiting, visitors can enjoy the summit's cairn and Trigonometric point before making the descent back down.
