I’m probably going to get heat for spilling this secret, but oh well. Right on the edge of the city center, this Trattoria is worth the short walk. One of the most traditional Tuscan spots you can find in Florence, Alla Vecchia Bettola is a go-to spot for Florentines that want to enjoy a night out in the city center while simultaneously avoiding the large crowds of tourists. They have a large outdoor seating area that is perfect for warmer nights, and even though the restaurant is located on the corner of a somewhat busy street, no one minds since the food makes it all worth it. Note: there is no English menu here, so be armed with Google Translate or with the mindset that whatever you point to on the menu is gunna be good.
Kacie's Recommendation: I am not normally a fan of pate crostini, but Alla Vecchia Bettola’s is one of the only ones I will eat in Florence. It’s fantastic. The “Penne alla Bettola” is my go-to if I’m feeling pasta, and the “Arista con l’osso”, is delicious if you’d like a meat option, but make sure to get a Contorni if you opt for it. Being a very traditional Tuscan restaurant though, they know how to do a Florentine Steak, and they know how to do it very well.
