The hike to DNT Trollfjordhytta offers a unique opportunity to experience the raw and untamed beauty of Trollfjorden on Austvågøy. Accessible only by boat, the trail begins at the quay in Trollfjorden and takes you through a dramatic landscape surrounded by towering mountains. Though the hike is not so easy, the panoramic views from the cabin, perched high above the fjord, are worth every step. The cabin is well-equipped with essentials like gas, wood, kitchen utensils, and solar power (12V) for lighting and phone charging. Guests must bring their own sleeping bag, sheets, and cleaning supplies (like dish towels and hand sanitizer). Lille Trollfjordhytta welcomes dogs in designated areas, while Store Trollfjordhytta remains pet-free. The cabin has no food storage or waste facilities, so visitors must carry out all trash.

Starting point: To access Trollfjordhytta, take a boat shuttle from Svolvær to Trollfjorden (daily trips May–September), or arrange transport with local operators like RiB Lofoten.

Route: From the quay in Trollfjorden, the marked trail leads you steeply upward, covering 2.5 kilometers of trail and around 250 meters of elevation. The hike takes you through forests, rocky paths, and onto a plateau with increasingly panoramic views of Trollfjorden and the surrounding peaks.
