Mosquito Creek Campground is just one example of the eight first come, first serve campgrounds along the Icefields Parkway (two in Banff NP, six in Jasper NP). I will be adding the others in February 2025.
There are 38 campsites in this highway adjacent campground, all unserviced (no hook-ups) with fire pits (extra fee). Most are forested, private and suitable for tents and RVs. There are some more open sites at the western end with great views of the river and mountains.
This campground has an overflow area when full. Look for a note on the info board - it usually opens at 7pm. The price is the same as a regular site - $19.75/night. No campfires are allowed in the gravel overflow area.
Side note - ignore the name! Mosquitoes are no worse here than any other campground.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to drive the Icefields Parkway ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
