Helpful tips before travelling to Iceland

Cash and Card: While credit cards are widely accepted in Iceland, it's a good idea to carry some cash, especially for smaller purchases or in remote areas.

Safety First: Iceland's natural attractions can be dangerous if proper precautions aren't taken. Pay attention to warning signs and guidelines at tourist sites, especially near waterfalls, hot springs, and beaches.

Book Accommodation in Advance: Especially during the peak season (summer), accommodation in Iceland can fill up quickly. Book your accommodations in advance to ensure you have a place to stay, especially outside Reykjavik. Please check out my list recommended accommodation.

Weather Preparedness: Icelandic weather can be unpredictable. Always pack layers, waterproof clothing, and good hiking boots. Even in summer, temperatures can vary, and rain showers are common. Thin wool or synthetics is a recommended option for base layer, it is important not to use cotton as a base layer, socks included.

Driving Conditions: If you plan to explore beyond Reykjavik, renting a car is a great option. However, familiarize yourself with driving in Iceland, including road signs, weather-related road closures, and driving on gravel roads.
