Pura Luhur Uluwatu, otherwise known as the Uluwatu Temple, is a Balinese Hindu sea temple that has been standing since the 11th century. Strategically located on the cliff side of South Kuta in Badung, this temple serves as a gateway to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, the supreme deity in accordance with Balinese Hinduism. The semiprecious setting encapsulates rolling hills, overlooking lush forests, and an iconic rock face covered in screaming macaques. Oftentimes, these monkeys can be seen scavenging for treats from visitors, though politely returning items when prompted with sweets! In the evenings, enjoy a captivating Kecak dance performance inspired by the Ramayana. To top it all off, witness the spectacular coastal sunset - there’s surely no better way to end your adventure!
