Seeing the facade of the Otto Wulff Building is worth the detour. Stand across the street and stare a while at all the details.

Built in 1914 with an Art Nouveau style, this 60-meter-tall building stands out at the corner of Belgrano and Peru in Monserrat.

Originally on the grounds of an old colonial house, it was designed by Danish architect Morten Rönnow for businessman Otto Wulff.

🏤 Inaugurated in 1914 on what was one of the most important intersections at the time, Edificio Otto Wulff was built in the Jugendstil style, the German answer to Art Nouveau, commissioned by investor Otto Wulff, a German immigrant and businessman.

👀 This façade of this building is filled with symbols and curiosities, you could spend ages here analyzing it from every angle!

👉🏻 8 Atlas Figures stand out at 5 meters tall (carved in Europe by Franz Metzner). Each one represents a person involved in construction like stone mason, contractor, etc.

👉🏻 Four condors top the main part of the building, in pairs they look at each other, much like the double eagles on the Austria-Hungary coat of arms at the time.

👉🏻 Look closely and you'll find everything from pumas to crawling babies, owls and frogs, representations of Argentine native populations and even the first emperor of the Chinese Yuan Dynasty.

☕ Stay for a coffee! The ground floor is a Starbucks, uninspiring I know, but at least you can see inside.
