Ponderosa Canyon is a beautiful spot to explore in Bryce Canyon National Park. Named for the huge Ponderosa Pine trees located on the canyon floor, this viewpoint provides stunning views of the distant horizon, as well as nearby cliffs and landscapes. Without the use of private shuttles, accessing the area requires taking the Agua Connector Trail. Heading down the 1,000 feet below, visitors can find themselves surrounded by a forest of Engelmann spruce and Douglas-fir. Wildlife like mountain lions, coyotes and black bears are native to the area, so be sure to bring your bear-resistant food canisters when hiking the backcountry.
