Ooh, I’m thrilled for you to hit the Cape Raoul Trail, this is hands down my favorite hike in all of Tasmania, and I’m so excited for you to experience it! You’ll start with a cozy bushwalk that’s like a warm-up act for the main event, then BAM! The trail bursts into a spectacular show of natural wonder. At 15.6 kilometers, it's a bit of a marathon, so make sure you’ve got plenty of daylight, water, and snacks to keep you fueled.

Each step brings you closer to the jaw-dropping dolerite cliffs and rock platforms that look like they’ve been pulled straight from a fantasy novel. And don’t miss the Hippolyte Rocks, those rugged, off-shore beauties add a dramatic flair to the scenery. The trail’s an out-and-back adventure, so a little heads-up: the descent is a breeze, but save some energy for the climb back up. As you hike, the forest slowly reveals its secrets, opening up to offer breathtaking views from every angle. Walking along those cliff edges feels like you’re floating above the world, with the sparkling sea stretching out endlessly. Keep an eye on the sea below, during my hike, I spotted seals lounging and sunbathing on the rocks far below.

When you finally reach the end of the track, you’ll find two amazing lookouts. First up is the Cape Raoul viewing point, where you’ll get a direct view of the rock formation that seems to shrink as it recedes into the distance, it's a bit tricky to describe, but the photos I’ve added should help clarify. The second lookout, Seal Rock, offers a side view of the entire formation, which is mind-blowing. I even saw some rock climbers scaling the cliffs, which was such a special sight.
