Just like with Lake Waikaremoana, getting here requires a bit of effort—long, windy gravel roads and no reception, so make sure to download a map before heading out!

To reach Papakorito Falls, follow the gravel road past the Waikaremoana Holiday Park for a few minutes until you pass some buildings. You’ll notice toilets on your right and the carpark for Aniwaniwa Falls on your left (though it’s not signed). From there, take a right through the “town” (past the buildings) and continue on the dirt road, which narrows as you go. After about 2 minutes, you’ll reach a carpark. From there, it’s just a 5-minute walk along the trail, and boom, you’ve arrived at a waterfall paradise.

These falls are beautiful, full of color, and have a magical vibe. Chances are, you’ll have the place all to yourself, so take your time, connect with nature, and admire the peaceful beauty of it all.
