Can I take my children on safari?

Yes! You can absolutely take children on safari! However, there are a number of things you may wish to consider before travelling with children:

1. Some lodges, tours and even national parks have an age restriction for booking with children, so be sure to check that out.

2. Tanzania and East Africa generally can be a pricy option for families. If the safaris are out of your budget, consider Namibia or South Africa as an alternative!

3. Be aware that there is a malaria risk in Tanzania. Speak to your Doctor about travelling with children and discuss any vaccinations and medication that your family may need.

4. A lot of the accommodation within the parks in Tanzania are unfenced camps. This means that wildlife can wander through camp at all times! You may wish to consider booking accommodation outside the parks or within fenced grounds.

1. Book a lodge or camp that is family friendly! Some can offer great activities for kids and provide kids with tons of entertainment! However, some lodges may have age restrictions.

2. Safari days in Tanzania are long, as you are out on safari all day and will spend the majority of the time in a safari truck!

3. Bear in mind that you do need to be quiet on safaris, especially when stationary for viewing wildlife. Loud noises can startle wildlife.

4. There may be age restrictions on certain activities such as walking safaris or hot air balloon safaris, so be sure to check this out before booking.
