There are so many factors that can impact this and we break this down in this travel tip!
As a general rule of thumb to get a great safari experience we would recommend a minimum of 4 days/ 3 nights! This is probably the most popular choice for many, but some people will opt to go for 10 days....and if you can, why not!
As you can hit so many parks in Tanzania in one trip, it's a great destination to really make the most being able to travel around and explore all that the Northern Safari Circuit has to offer! We went for a 7 day/ 6 night safari and visited 4 different parks. It was absolutely wonderful!
It is also possible to do a day safari from Arusha as well, so if you're in Tanzania and want a quick safari, the options are endless!
It goes without saying that the longer you can go for, the better! It increases your chances of seeing as many animals as possible, but obviously that also increases the cost!
The biggest factor that usually determines the length on a safari is the cost! The areas you want to visit and the way in which you travel, the level of accommodation you choose will all impact the cost.
If you want to increase the number of nights you can go for but your budget can't stretch to it, try thinking about the following options:
Opt for a budget safari and compromise on comfort for an extra night or two!
Look to book a group safari trip to bring the cost of the safari down
Choose parks that have lower entrance fees (for example, the Ngorongoro Entrance fees are very high!)
Choose to travel in a safari truck rather than a fly-in a safari
Opt for accommodation located outside the parks
