Here is our list of the essentials you need to pack for an epic safari!

Clothes:

The temperatures can really fluctuate on safari, ranging from boiling hot in the day and then quite cold in the mornings and evenings, so it's important to pack appropriately!

  • Lightweight, breathable casual tops (neutral tones)

  • Lightweight, breathable shorts & trousers (neutral tones)

  • Additional layers for the cold mornings and evenings - shirts/ sweatshirts etc.

  • Fleece or jacket

  • A lightweight rain jacket

  • Swimwear (if required)

  • Sun hat

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Hiking boots (if going on a walking safari)

Gear:

When travelling with gear, remember that it can get very dusty, so make sure you are protecting your gear when out on safari!

  • Camera

  • Spare camera batteries and SD cards

  • Binoculars

  • Tripod or beanbag for camera (bear in mind that if you are in a group safari, there will likely not be room for a tripod in the van)

  • Head Torch

  • Charging power pack

  • Lens Brush (for all the dust!)

  • Daypack Bag

  • Water bottle

  • Dry bag (for water safaris)

  • Adapters

Toiletries:

  • Insect repellent

  • Anti-malaria medication (seek advice from Doctor)

  • Anti-sickness tablets

  • Anti-diarrhea tablets

  • Antibacterial hand gel

  • Antiseptic cream

  • Antihistamine cream

  • Sun cream

  • Lip balm

  • A basic first aid kit

  • Moisturiser
