đŸ‡ș🇾 The Almendres Cromlech is the largest cromlech in the Iberian Peninsula. Dating back to 5,500 years before Christ, from the Neolithic period, the complex consists of 95 granite monoliths arranged in a circular pattern. It is believed that the Cromlech may have served as a primitive observatory for astronomical observations.

To access the Almendres Cromlech and the Almendres Menhir, you start from Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, where an interesting Interpretive Center has been built. If you're fortunate enough to be assisted by the employee Bito, you'll receive a detailed explanation. The exact function of the Cromlech is still unclear, but it's believed to be related to astronomical orientations, possibly linked to equinoxes and solstices.

Opening Hours:

Summer (May 1st to October 31st) - from 10 am to 7 pm

Winter (November 1st to April 30th) - from 10 am to 5 pm

If you wish, you can also visit the menhir located a few kilometers from the Almendres Cromlech. The Menhir is approximately 4 meters tall and likely still in its original position, dating back to the period between the Neolithic and the Chalcolithic. The Almendres Menhir is oriented towards the solstices, in alignment with the Almendres Cromlech.

Note: In this section, we suggest considering a guided tour for the Cromeleque. We find this option intriguing, as places like these are better appreciated when we understand the context.
