Message from Roberto Luigi Pagani

Hlíðarendakirkja, built in 1898, is a beautiful church not far fron Hvolsvöllur. It is dedicated to Saint Þorlákur, patron Saint of Iceland, a native of the area, and is adorned with many illustrations and paintings inside. The altarpiece is a replica of an altarpiece from Denmark, making it an intriguing bridge between two countries and cultures. This farm site was also one of the main setting of Iceland's most beloved medieval epics: the Saga of Burnt-Njáll.
