The Rosenlaui Gorge is a breathtaking natural attraction in the Bernese Oberland, where the glacial waters of the Rosenlaui Glacier have carved deep, twisting rock formations over thousands of years. Located near Meiringen, this narrow and dramatic gorge is a hidden gem, offering a close-up experience of the raw power of nature.

A well-maintained walking trail winds through the gorge, leading past thundering waterfalls, swirling pools, and smooth rock walls sculpted by the rushing water. Wooden bridges and pathways allow you to safely explore the gorge while feeling the mist of the roaring stream below.

Beyond the gorge itself, the Rosenlaui Valley is an idyllic setting with alpine meadows, traditional Swiss chalets, and stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including the Wetterhorn and Engelhörner. The area is perfect for hiking, with several trails leading deeper into the valley or connecting to higher alpine routes.

Rosenlauischlucht is accessible by car or bus from Meiringen, following the scenic road toward the Rosenlaui Hotel. A short walk from the parking area brings you to the entrance of the gorge.

Seraina’s Tip: The gorge is at its most impressive after heavy rainfall or during the snowmelt season, when the water rushes through with extra force. Wear sturdy shoes, as the path can be slippery, and take your time to appreciate the unique rock formations along the way.
