Montaña de Oro State Park is a gem along California's Central Coast, boasting stunning views, rugged cliffs, and secluded sandy beaches. With over 8,000 acres to explore, this is one of the largest parks in California and visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, and even camping under the starry night sky. The park's name, meaning "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring, adding a touch of magic to this coastal paradise. Whether you're seeking adventure or simply want to relax by the ocean, Montaña de Oro has something for everyone to enjoy.

The weather conditions here are typically much much cooler than the nearby inland areas, so plan for cooler and windier temps!

See our Bluff Trail on the map for more info about the trail itself!

Pet-friendly: Dogs are only permitted at the campground, roadways, and Spooner’s Cove Beach

Soft adventure: It definitely can be if you just do the beach or bluff trail, but some of the other trails like Valencia Peak are much more challenging

Seasonality: All seasons

Fee: None
