The Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the unusual and beautiful world of desert plants. The 0.25 mile (0.4 km) Nature Trail is brimming with teddybear cactus, hedgehog cactus, brittlebush, desert lavender, beavertail cactus, pencil cholla, and so much more! With so many vibrant species in one place, it’s easily a must-see while visiting the park. But beware, these cholla cacti can be quite dangerous is touched or bumped in to. So exercise caution!

Enjoy learning about these special desert dwellers and keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that visits the garden too!

Pet-friendly: No, pets are not permitted

Soft adventure: Yes, if you stay on the boardwalk. If you go off the trail, it can end up being a tough day with the chollas.

Seasonality: All seasons, but we would not recommend going in the summer due to excessive heat.

Fee: Park entry fee $30
