For a unique off-the-beaten-path adventure, the Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht) should be high on your list for your Switzerland trip.

Tucked away near the quaint town of Meiringen, this stunning gorge was formed over thousands of years. The gorge was carved out by the Aare River as it flows from the Grimsel Pass. This narrow limestone canyon stretches for about 1.4km and is known for its high cliffs with the river rushing below in clear turquoise water. It’s honestly so dreamy and a must see!

✨The narrowest sections of the gorge create an almost otherworldly experience, where the walls seem to close in and amplify the sound of the rushing river below. Meanwhile, light filters through cracks in the cliffs, casting dramatic shadows and adding to the gorge’s mystical appeal.
