Wengen is a village that feels like it’s been plucked straight out of a fairytale. Perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, this car-free village is full of picturesque timber houses and stunning views of the Jungfrau mountain. In winter, it's a skier's paradise with easy to medium-difficulty slopes. In summer, you can explore over 500 km of trails and take in breathtaking panoramas of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. Whether you're into skiing, hiking, or just soaking up the sunshine, Wengen has so much to offer.

🚞 How to get there:

Wengen is accessible only by train, which adds to its charm. From Lauterbrunnen, you’ll board a cogwheel train  for 15min journey that winds its way up the mountainside, offering panoramic views of waterfalls and meadows.

Adult: chf 6.80

Child:chf 3.40

Swiss Travel Pass: If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, the journey is typically free.

Half Fare Card: With a Swiss Half Fare Card, you'll pay about chf 3.40 for an adult one-way ticket.

(Note: Prices can change slightly depending on the season or if there are special offers)

📝Things to do:

Explore the streets of Wengen

Spend some time wandering through the car-free streets of Wengen, where traditional Swiss chalets line the lanes, and vibrant flowers spill from window boxes. The village’s relaxed pace is perfect for soaking in the Alpine atmosphere. Stop by some of the local shops to pick up Swiss chocolates, souvenirs, or handmade crafts.

📸Visit the Wengen Church and Wengernalpbahn Station

Head to the Wengen church, a picturesque spot with beautiful views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Afterward, visit the historic Wengernalpbahn station, one of the world’s longest cogwheel railway lines, which dates back to 1893.

🥾Hike to Lauterbrunnen

For an easy yet scenic hike, consider walking down to Lauterbrunnen, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful valleys. The walk takes about an hour and a half, descending gently through forests and meadows with stunning views of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs.

🚠Visit Männlichen

Take the Wengen-Männlichen gondola from the village, a short and scenic ride that offers breathtaking views even before you reach the top. Arriving at Männlichen is an unforgettable experience. I recommend sunrise, as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Such a dream!

🌅 Panoramaweg trail

I recommend this trail for sunset. It offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks as the sun sets behind them.
