Thórsmörk is probably one of the most untouched and wild places in Iceland. It is really hard to get to as you need to cross an insanely strong and deep river. We were not allowed to go here with our rental car but you may ask your rental company.

We do recommend to take a guided tour (listed on the booking page of my guide) here which will save you the hassle of maybe sinking you car in the river and having to pay thousands of dollars to the rental company.
