Message from Elisa in Iceland

I went here on horse back, but you can just go here by car and go for a walk in this area. It is really beautiful and especially when the sun is shining you get to experience the amazing colors.

Rauðhólar, also known as the "red hills," are ancient pseudocraters located in the Elliðaárhraun lava fields on the outskirts of Reykjavík. These unique formations are part of the Heiðmörk nature reserve and date back around 5200 years. Originally there were over 80 craters, but most of the material was taken for construction projects during World War II. Despite this, Rauðhólar are now protected and offer a fascinating glimpse into Iceland's volcanic history.
