A hidden gem on Snæfellsnes Peninsula with an eerie story. Selatangar was a big fishing station between Grindavik and Krysuvik, but it was abandoned in 1880. There are still remnants of homes the fisherman used and other houses used for the fishing station. In this coastal area, you'll find an abundance of driftwood, low mountains, lava fields, and a tranquil beach (on not so windy days).

Along with the fascinating remnants and history, I was intrigued by the eerie 19th century ghosts that are said to roam around this area. It's said that one ghost who might appear makes visitors trip and fall. Not in a way that causes injury but the ghost finds in funny.

I was fortunate to not fall victim to the ghost's tricks while visiting but I recommend watching where you step. ;-)

The road to get there, which is off the main road, is rough, rocky, and full of potholes. A 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended.
